Position Summary
The Worship Leader is responsible for leading the congregation in Christ-centered, biblically faithful worship that glorifies God and engages the church body. This role provides spiritual, musical, and organizational leadership for all worship services, helping create environments where people can respond to God through worship.
Primary Responsibilities
Worship Leadership
Plan and lead weekly worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and ministry staff.
Select music that is theologically sound, musically excellent, and appropriate for the church’s culture and demographics.
Lead worship services vocally and instrumentally with authenticity, humility, and spiritual maturity.
Provide music for special services & other ministries (holidays, baptisms, communion services, funerals, weddings, etc.).
Team Development
Recruit, train, disciple, and schedule volunteer worship team members (vocalists, instrumentalists).
Foster a healthy, encouraging, and spiritually grounded worship team culture.
Lead regular rehearsals that are well-prepared, efficient, and spiritually focused.
Identify and develop future worship leaders and musicians.
Service Planning & Collaboration
Work closely with pastoral staff to align worship services with sermon themes and the overall vision of the church.
Coordinate transitions, service flow, and worship elements to support congregational engagement.
Partner with the Production/AV team to ensure excellence in sound, lighting, and presentation.
Administrative & Organizational
Plan worship sets and communicate clearly with team members using planning center.
Manage the worship ministry budget responsibly.
Maintain and oversee worship-related equipment and instruments.
Stay current on worship music, trends, and resources while remaining grounded in Scripture and church values.
Spiritual Expectations
Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Live a life that reflects biblical character and aligns with the church’s statement of faith.
Serve as a spiritual leader and example both on and off the platform.
Be an active, engaged member of the church community.
Qualifications
A clear calling to worship ministry and a passion for leading others in worship.
Strong vocal ability; proficiency on guitar or keyboard preferred.
Ability to lead confidently while remaining flexible and teachable.
Experience leading worship in a church setting (preferred).
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work well with staff, volunteers, and church leadership.
Reporting & Time Commitment
Reports to: Senior Pastor (or designated pastor).
Status: Full-time
Schedule includes Sundays, rehearsals, staff meetings, and additional services as required.
We anticipate this role taking 40-50% of your week. Other duties will be assigned based on your giftedness and church needs.
